Well, right now, I'm sitting on the couch and I smell cigarette smoke. No one has smoked in this house for years! So strange! I have been on edge for a couple hours tonight and I've been feeling "icky"... maybe someone's here?

How much wood wark is in the house?? Wood can trap the smell, and as heat kicks on it will release the smell.

Kaspr, it was a quick puff of smoke.. like someone had just blown it in my ace.. then it went away. We had water damage to the house and we had to have the cieling replaced and the floor got re sanded and re poly'd. The construction ended in May.. started last January. We def. have spooks in the house, as you guys know. But, I've never had this happen before.. smelling the cig smoke!
Once I was traveling from Portland to home, which is over 29 miles. I was driving home from a bad day at work and I wanted to quit my job. I was really stressed out and I felt even more stressed because I hate driving on the turnpike. So, I was contemplating on how to tell my husband that I didn't want to return to work the next day when all of a sudden I smelled a cup of coffee. I do not drink coffee because I am caffeine intollerant and no one has ever been in my truck with a cup of coffee. While this smell of coffee totally consumed the whole truck I had this feeling of peace and that everything would work out fine. I would be fine, my husband would be okay with it and we were all going to be okay. I thanked whoever had visited me and started to tear up, but realized my dad was a big coffee drinker and it could have been him.
The next day I told my mother this and she immediately blurted it out that it was my dad. She said he drank over 8 cups of coffee a day. He died when I was 11yrs old. He has been gone for about 20 years now. Things did turn out okay and my husband wasn't upset at all!

Mom... I will keep you updated.. My boyfriend just brought home one of those ionic breeze units and now all I smell is ozone.. haha. So, if I smell the smoke... it's probably really there!
Kewl well if you smell it again hopefully you have your little camera maybe if you are lucky you will catch a waft of smoke! :) LOL
These are such great stories! I think spirits use scent a lot to grab our attention. That's the first way that I know that my mother-in-law is visiting. I get that whiff of cigarette smoke and no one has ever smoked in the house and it was new construction. Very interesting about the wood work though, kaspr! Makes total sense to me. My first thought was older furniture too, but Sky already addressed that!
