Opening doorways to the other side..........
Someone asked me a very interesting quesiton yesterday and I thought I would post to get your opinions..............When people use things like ouija boards to attemt to speak with the other side some believe there is a risk of opening a doorway to the other side that may allow "undesireables" to also come through. When we sit in an EVP session, use a Ghost Box, dowsing tool, channeling, video, etc. we are asking for spirits to communicate with us-basically giving them permission to come across via whatever avenue we are employing, so wouldnt that also open a pathway for undesirables to come through? Do these doorways automatically close when we are finished a session, or do we have to actually 'Close" the communication portal ceremoniously no matter if it is ouija board or EVP session, etc.? Discuss..................
(no we do not support the use of ouija boards, I was using it as a reference)
Lisa- you did not say what your thoughts are about "opening communication"...
I personally think any time someone engages in active communication with the other side- you are potentially opening up continued interaction with the spirit world. All this attention to human spirits can attract more unsavory characters.
That said, there seems to be more negative stories related to the use of ouija boards then digital recorders and cameras, though I could be wrong.
Wasn't there a PS episode where the woman was constantly doing EVP work after her sister passed away? After she started doing that- terribly frightening things started to happen. The team actually told her to stop doing that (EVP work)- she did, and the activity stopped. Anyone remember that episode?
Wow I dont remember seeing that episode, but then again I have missed many......
My thoughts are that any time someone tries to communicate with the other side you are intentionally giving an open invitation to anyone/anything to come on in and communicate. I also think that the energy directed with the intent to communicate would act like a beacon to attract others in the paranormal realm to come check it out. This is why I think it also important at the end of an investigation or session to make it known that the time to communicate has ended.....
I have to agree with Whitelight and Lisa on both counts.. and yes Whitelight I do remember that episode, she was a grandmotherly type person older person and she was practically "LIVING" the EVP's she was getting I mean nothing else was getting done but collecting EVP's! Even her husband stated that she used to have freinds and garden and go out and well since she started this new "hobby" as she would put it she alienated herself to just doing the EVP sessions.
That is just as bad as doing the Ouija Board by yourself, in my opinion.
To me it is one thing to do this for a reason.. Such as you are with a team of investigators and you are investigating a home or haunting and trying to help the spirits and/or the family involved, etc...
It is one thing to do that and have it for a hobby.. I don't find this to be hobby material at all..
To me investigations and getting evidence should be left to the professionals out there that do it and know what they are doing like MGHS group...not joe or jill homeowner.
Myself I think the Ouija Board is one of the strongest tools to use. Stronger then EVP's and pictures and EMF readings and such..so strong that if you use it you better know how to close the portal to it.. and know what you are doing while using it.
I state "tool" as it is.. it is far from a toy that is sold by Walmart and other stores..and in my opinion should NOT be as such or even considered as such.
I think with a Ouija Board you can open more doors then with the EVP's more doors that are dangerous. and sometimes I have heard that with a Ouija Board sometimes those doors don't close all the time.
With EVP's you can close the doors you can get rid of them all and you can make things safe and right in the home again. Though EVPs open doors, I don't think it opens a lot of doors that should be open. Only the door that is necessary to talk to the entity or spirit that is with you there or around you there at that time.
That is how I feel on all this. Thanks for the post though. I hope more answer on this too. But either way in closing here. I think too that whatever medium that you use, you should tell the entity and/or spirit we are done thank you for your time and close the door as necessary, prayer later or whatever, which I know this group does.
With a ouija board you're actively asking "anything" to come through an communicates. With a Digital Recorder your usually specifically asking something that's already in a location to communicate. Your not actively opening a doorway. These things are already here.
If you watch the shows on TV they usually ask something like "Is there anyone here who would like to communicate with us" or "is there anyone here with us" . or something very general like that. On an initial investigation we dont really know who is there so we have to ask non-specific questions that could be answered by a man, woman, or child. Our energy is usually focused around finding evidence of paranormal activity at the location and not specifically just to contact Uncle Joe, or Grammy Esther. This is mainly due to the fact that the family could be wrong on whom they think is haunting their home. So we have to "talk" to anyone listening, and hope they tell us who they are, and why they are there. Wouldn't that open a "pathway" for anyone to communicate?
Also we have personally experienced that while doing an investigation and concentrating energy to contact spirits we kind of created a beacon (unintentionally) that let others in the spirit realm know something was happening, and curious spirits who were not usual visitors came by to see what was going on.(This was a house where the usual spirit activity was known to us already) Perhaps this was an isolated incidence......but it re-inforced my belief that at the end of an investigation there needs to be closure......just in case..............
Interesting. I think you guys hit on it though, where EVPs are generally specific to what's already in the location where as the board is like throwing chum or bait into to the water to draw something to you. Interesting though about that PS episode. I hadn't seen that but that's really sad!
Yah I am glad she was able to break herself away from it finally.
And get on with life though in the end.
She litterally just shut herself out of life all together for these EVPs
Unbelievable. It is one thing to be dedicated, another thing to be obsessed...
Situations like that, it's all about reinforcing the relationships with the living. Some of us (and I at one point started going down this road a very long time ago) forget that we're here to live, and can become so infatuated with the "other" side, that we forget what's important. And the thing about that is, you star becoming so obsessed with "death" and the energies around it, you actually will start feeding off of those particular energy waves. Your entire appearence, and attitude towards everything changes. It's almost like you become a type of "walking dead", and it's not too much fun.
Wow, kaspr, that's really interesting! I'm glad you're back "among the living"!
Thank you kaspr for your candidness. I've seen this happen to people and its very difficult to redirect them. It is my firm belief that the Earth is for the living-not the dead. Its important to have balance and moderation with all things...except maybe cookies...or in my case-popcorn!!!!Especially movie theater popcorn with a butter-like product- so bad for you, but sooooo yummy. I've been known to swing in just for a bag- no movie, just popcorn please. HA!
Wow Kaspr as intelligent as you are.. I would not think that you would be victim to this type of thing you know.. I don't know why anyone could but you are sooo intelligent on so many types of things and knowledgeable.. but thank you for sharing and being so candid to the experiences and explaining them more.
