Now that is really strange. How did she aquire ownership just by borrowing it from you? Wouldnt it still be yours?  Can I borrow some books?

I had actually given her a large box of books I hadn't read in a while, and that one was a part of it. I will let you "borrow" some of Nym's cat collection though.devil

While searching for a copy of "In A Dark Place" I ran across this interesting link:

And I found another interview by the author of this book. I'm in the process of buying a copy of it. :)

My name is Ray Garton. Back in the early nineties, I wrote a book called IN A DARK PLACE: THE STORY OF A TRUE HAUNTING. It was published as "non-fiction", but that was just marketing. I went to Connecticut to meet with the family involved in the alleged haunting of their former house, which used to be a funeral home. I was never able to see the inside of the home because the people who were living there by then wanted nothing to do with the "haunting", which they said was utter nonsense. It was my job to get the family's story down on paper and into a book. I worked with the family, and with the "ghostbusters" or "demon hunters" (whatever they happened to be calling themselves at the moment), Ed and Lorraine Warren. The article above claims "the family had little involvement" in this book -- that is simply a lie. They were DIRECTLY involved with the book -- it was them, the Warrens, and myself, nobody else. I attempted to get their story. Unfortunately, the members of the family couldn't seem to keep their "facts" straight. Their individual stories simply did not fit into one smooth hole. The article above states that the book I wrote "remains a source of controversy." The only source of controversy was the family, because they just couldn't keep their stories straight. I went to Ed Warren and told him the problem. He laughed. "They're crazy!" he said. "Everybody who comes to us is crazy, otherwise why would they come to US? Just do the best you can. You write scary books, right? That's why we hired you. Use whatever you can of their story, make the rest up, and make it scary." And that's what I did. The book IN A DARK PLACE is a combination of elements of the family's story and stuff I made up -- because it was a for-hire writing job, AND THAT'S WHAT I WAS TOLD TO DO. If this family is saying they had "little involvement" in this book, then they are bald-faced liars. They were involved from beginning to end, and THEY COLLECTED THE CHECK FOR IT. They were deeply involved in IN A DARK PLACE, and they were PAID for it -- their names are on the cover of the book along with my name and Ed and Lorraine Warren. I never got to meet their allegedly ill son -- I was only allowed to speak with him briefly on the phone. Although there was much talk of his illness, it was NEVER verified for me, although he did have a drug problem. It turned out that the girls in the family who claimed to have been groped by so-called invisible, demonic hands were actually groped by HIM. The Warrens and their nephew John Zaffis claimed they had videotape that clearly showed supernatural activity inside the house, and they told me numerous times that they would SHOW me that videotape. Somehow, during our time together, they just couldn't manage to find it. Not only did I not see that footage, I never saw an actual VHS videotape at ALL. Since my experience with the Warrens and this family, I've talked to other writers who have written books for Ed and Lorraine, and they've told me THE EXACT SAME STORY. This is how the Warrens have always worked. They find a very "emotional" family with claims of some supernatural activity in their lives, convince them there's money to be made if they just shape this into a better "story" (and this family was very eager to make money -- at the time I knew them, the mother was involved in some kind of interstate lottery scam), then they hire a writer of horror fiction to write it up as a book -- "Make it scary," Ed told me -- and they've got themselves a package, a piece of merchandise that they can hawk on talk shows and that the Warrens can discuss in their VERY lucrative lectures. And perhaps they can convince someone in Hollywood to make a movie of it. Of course, in THIS case, the book I wrote has been shoved aside and isn't involved in the making of the movie THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT. It will be VERY interesting to see how much of this movie contains the material that I WAS TOLD TO MAKE UP. We'll see.

Interesting Robin, so this whole house thing and the family that supposedly was haunted could be just a be a big amount of turmoil in the family and high senses then and really nothing going on.. and the fact that money was involved in this the family took advantage of it, I mean who wouldn't a sickly supposedly, son with cancer and all.. the bills stacking up and all.
and well the drug problem child still a lot of medical bills mounting up and all.
This could all be a lie then?
Interesting. so the 95.00 dollar book is pretty much a make believe and made up thing then.. as this poor author never saw any proof whatsoever never met the boy and never really got clear answers from the family members either.
Interesting.
And the movie has nothing to do with the book, interesting.
And you know what the guy on PS the lead guy, really holds the Warrens up on a pedastel, he was there with Lorraine Warren I don't know about Ed, in the Amityville thing, hence how he got the spirit that was following him for a while there, until recently now that spirit is gone. And he thinks highly of the Warrens as well.
Interesting things we are coming up with here on different things indeed..
Thanks for sharing Robin I guess it just saved me 95.00 bux to bother to buying the book, if it is not based on anything but made up stuff, I can read that in a Stephen King book for 25.00 bux! LOL

Wow, this is turning out to be a rough night. First Jay and Grant, and now this..........I think I may actually be sick. Not that I held the Warren's up on some huge pedestal, but to think that the very first book I read on the subject, and was truly terrified by, is just a bunch of bull.

In any case, the movie opens on the twenty-seventh. I saw an ad last night, and I'll still be there, quite a bit more savvy though

I'm not surprised, actually. Everything is about making money, pure and simple! At the end of the day, that's what's important!

You said a mouthful Summer! You just need to look at our current economy to know this is true! Shameful!!!! UGH!

At MGHS- we investigate for FREE! (Although we appreciate donations :0 ) )We do our little thing- share the evidence as it is- no doctoring it up, and provide an opinion.
Our goal- to illuminate the paranormal, find answers and help people.

Happily, some of us are still altruistic - don't despair.

That's great to know! It's clear that you guys are here to help and not make money from your gifts and talents. Someone should give you guys a show! LOL

Oh but if you give them a show then they will have to much interference and evidence that will be hampered unfortunately you need a village to run a show! LOL
and that village will be interference! LOL
But I am glad to hear that you guys are free of charge. These days who can really afford to have someone come out and calm their fears of their home and/or pay for it.
Granted Donations are helpful for the gas and equipment but it is nice to know that you are out there to really help people and I hope there are other groups the same way.. I am sure there are. But they are far and few in between.. unfortunately.
I swear I win the lottery guys and you guys might get an anonymous donation! LOL

And summer you are right it is all about money and ratings. And it is a shame. That the facts were not seemingly facts.. hence why I won't pay for this movie.. I will though when I find the link and it comes on free to see and I get a good movie of it I will share it with you guys.. but you do have to have a DSL or high Speed internet to watch it.
There are many sites that have this though. And it is fun to watch when there is nothing on television! LOL as I have been watching movies all week! And having fun and crocheting! LOL

I think someone mentioned it before in an earlier post that Lorraine Warren was on on Paranormal State, and when she came into the house she walked right past the supposedly possessed piano. But the dear lady is getting old.   You wont see Ed Warren on any of his shows because he passed in 2006. I think the Warrens made a name for themselves because they brought something into the public view that at that time was mostly talked about in the churches. It is too bad to think that their life long work was nothing more than a money making, shock the world, scheme. ......Lisa B.

Yeppers I have to agree Lisa it is sad. And unfortunate.
Sometimes things are just too good to be true.
I remember seeing where Ed had passed in another article I was reading. Now I guess she is doing this alone.
I found some other dirt on this family as well. Which I will post later.
But yah it is seemingly the family was also in it for the money and the publicity. Such a shame too. It seemed like a really good find you know?  And I really felt sorry for the family as well. Especially the boy being sickly and all.

I've noticed that Lorraine hasn't been on the show in a while. It's been Chip, and Michelle. Michelle is quite the story, she actually has been featured in quite a few specials about "Psychic Vampires". While they are still quite a rather new field of study, most of them are quite unethical about how they go about their bussiness. Michelle on the other hand, tried to write a code of ethics, if you will, about the situation. Once I know more about the whole phenomena I'll start a thread.

Psychic Vampires?? Wow I cannot wait for the thread Kaspr I am so enlightened by your knowledge.. I do know of Vampires or people who think they are one ... and need the blood to survive.
I guess there is some disease that you do need the blood to survive.. not sure.. but they call themselves vampires and go to the extent of getting the fangs and all.. I mean great expense and extent. It is wild..
I know as I have been to one of the get togethers up in California before and let me tell you it is a wild thing out there.. needless to say I did not stay long and looked at my freind and told her not my scene and left..
Yah I don't see Lorraine much either but I think after the author broke out with this story and all it kind of mushed her credibility to some degree.
Chip is really good and have always liked him on PS and with his Psychic Kids..he does well with that indeed.

I dont know a whole lot about psychic vampires, but it is my understanding that these people basically suck the energy out of other people. If you have ever noticed that you get really tired around some people, they could be feeding off your energy.  I am not sure if this is what KASPR was talking about or not, but will be interesting to see the thread you post.  Get studying boy!!!!!   Does your head hurt with all that knowledge you hold in there?    lol.....I'm just jealous 'cause I cant retain knowledge like you do...................Lisa B.

Nym and I just have the One kid.........any more and I would be brain dead. You're right on as far as the people who feed off of other people's energy Lisa. I've actually started reading a book that Michelle Belanger compiled, and contributed too, of essays written by "vampires" themselves.
