I am sure Summer has seen this episode :) As she might watch a Haunting on Discovery channel every afternoon taped and all.
But I don't know if the rest of you know what I am talking about.
About a year ago there was a show covered by the show A haunting.. and it was titled a Haunting in Conneticut.
Based on a boy who had cancer and his family needed a cheaper more closer to place to live and they found a rental of a home close to the hospital for the boy's treatments and extremely reasonable, looked like a beautiful home.
Little did the rest of the family know, the mother knew that the home was a mortuary.
Now many people including our Grandpa, believe that the spirits stay with the home and/or place when it has been such a thing involving death, whether a mortuary, sanitarium, etc.. whether a home or a building. The spirits are still there.
Well this was the case with this place.
Well it was a decent show they got the spirits away but they still moved out.
Which I could not understand really, I understand they feared it would return so they left.
Myself I would of stayed it was a gorgeous house and they did all that work to get rid of the entities there and all I would of stayed on.
But anyways.. long story here now they are making a MOVIE of it, but the problem being it looks like it is going to be more dramatized then the actual events, which I don't find too kewl at all.
What do you think?
I think if you are going to make a movie of it make it so that it depicts the real events of it all..
I wonder what the family is stating to all this now too? On the movie and all?
And if they authorized the movie to be done and all?
I don't know I would think as a family in this situation I would want to get done with it and not remember it at every turn.
I didn't see this actually! I hate when they do dramatizations like that! ARGH Sounds like it would be good though if done right.
I can see why they moved though. If they were really still fearful then why would they want to stay. Geez, they'd been through a lot with a little kid with cancer that was probably the last thing they needed.
I know I agree Summer..
But it was such a beautiful home I would of stayed now that the home was cleaned out and all.. but I understand their end if it came back.
the kid did get cured, but in the end he ended up in an insane asylum as the spirit started to take him over which was bad.
I don't know how much they will dramatize it. But it was a good show they had on. I will have to see if I can find the true version from the haunting and give you all a link on this one for those that did not see it.. the one on A Haunting was the truth of this family and their happenings then this silly movie seems to be.
It was a two part story on this one and it was very good documentary really.
I will see what I can find :)
I actually read the book that that episode was based on. It's called "In A Dark Place", and was one of the most truly disturbing books I have ever read. Even if the spirits were cleaned out the things that happened in that house can never truly be reversed. Some of the most vile and disgusting things were done when the house was a mortuary. A lot of back story had to be left out of the show..........it was truly horrible.
Incedentally, that book was the first time I had ever heard of Ed and Lorraine Warren, and Jon Zaffis, and if I remember correctly, that was one of Zaffis' first cases
Wow really they made a book! so they must be basing the movie on the book then? Wow thanks for the interesting information I appreciate it now I have to go look up the book and buy it! See what you did to me?? Shame on you! LOL
OH well I will live!
So the house is still haunted then? I thought they were able to clean it all and everything I guess I was wrong..
So no wonder they moved.
Thanks for the information though I appreciate it! :)
OH MY GOSH! ![]()
143.00 for hardback and 83.00 bux for a soft cover????? WHAT! ![]()
I think i will go look for it in the library! LOL
No wonder so expensive.. it is out of print :) and now with the movie coming out it will be even more valuable if you have a copy of it :)
So if you do dust it off and make some money! LOL
Hello all!
That episode of A Haunting..or, "A Haunting in Connecticut" was the first from the "A Haunting" series that I saw. It truly freaked me out. I can't imagine what that poor family went through while living there.
I am very interested in getting the book. I knew that one was written, but I never really searched for it. I can see that i'll have to shell out a good bit of cash to get a copy!
From what I've seen of the trailer, they did dramatize a good bit of the events. I hope they keep it closer to what actually happened, but of course with Hollywood being involved, it's not likely. One of my favorite horror flicks is the newest "Amityville Horror." But, it did change many of the events. Who knows! I do know that I will be going to see it!
I've seen the original AH but not the newest. I still get the shivers thinking about that book though. Those copies of the drawings the kids did of the spirit when it was like a pig were TRUELY scary to me!
funny,a group of us was just disscussing this last night,..and,Yes,I do believe it will be a little more "souped up" but im hoping they will keep it as close to the story line as much as possible,It's kinda like how sci-fi adds sound effects in the background,lol,..alot of people think it would be boring without it,but then again,im rather partial to my friends in RI so,..i'd watch it anyhow..
speaking of AH,..has anyone seen what I believe to be a new eppy from NH? :) I hadn't seen it before anyhow..
OH! I NH episode? Very cool. You guys keep talking about this show and I've never seen it. I'll have to add it to the DVR and see what all the fuss is about! :) (Thanks for feeding the addiction, gang! LOL)
AH is awesome too :) I thought you all watched A Haunting for some reason I know it is on for 2 hours every weekday and sometimes with specials on Travel or Bio one of those channels.. not A & E.
Anyways I think they are going to base the movie on the book, which from what I have read from comments of people who were fortunate to get the book when it was in population LOL as it is no longer for sale out there to just anyone.. and I guess now a collector's item..
of sorts, anyways it is based on the facts from the book, I guess stuff that was not showed on a Haunting so I don't know if it will be "souped up " any at all.. there was a lot more stuff omitted from a Haunting such as molestation and rape from these ghosts and other violent acts to the children as well as the parents and other family members and more family members were involved then what they showed of it..
So we will see more family members. I am not sure what it states of the house now I cannot remember via the book, I think the house is still unoccupied but cannot remember for sure. So the book has a lot more information on this haunting that the movie may do so to explain as well and tell more of the book.
I have posted the you tube movie of this of A Haunting so you all can see the Haunting one... when the movie comes out I will look for the link to watch it in Free to see :) so everyone can see it :)
As I use free to see movies to see my recent movies :)
The links are under A Haunting A Haunting in Conneticut, anyways it is posted under Paranormal TV section so if anyone wants to watch it they can :)
Yeah A Haunting is on every day at 2....I rarely watch it now because it is all repeats....lol...There was a New Hampshire one on the other day that I had never seen before....wish they would make some new ones. The Connecticut one was extra long if I remember correctly....I hope they do right by that family and keep it real. I cant imagine having to sleep in that basement.......gives me chills just thinking about it.....Hey KASPR you still got that book? Lisa B.
I hope kaspr has the book.. he has quite a collector's item there.. but I do know they are probably going to base this on the findings of the book, so we will probably see more then we did in the A Haunting episode.. which in the book and A Haunting episode, they based only partial events I guess.. there was a lot more going on then what A Haunting could really show.
I would of hated sleeping in that basement at all.
I am glad the family did try to do something but I wonder if the house is back to the way it was and who lives there now? Hmm will have to do some hunting around and see.
I'm in the process of looking for it, but we're constantly cleaning out the library and donating our books to friends and public library's. It might actually have made it to Lithgow in Augusta....but I think one of my friends ended up with it, so I'm going to try and get it back
The cheapest one I could find was $95 dollars online....holy cow.....I like reading, but not that much.........
Kaspr I wish you luck and hope you find it as you have a collector's item there.
Yah I know I like reading too but if I get any extra spending money I think I will buy it and if I do I will share it with the group.. I can mail it to anyone interested, as long as they are willing to send it back to me and I will send it to the next person I don't mind :)
Ok, SUPER creepy! I just did a search for the book in every library in the state of the Maine. There is ONE copy that was at the Blue Hill Library Public Library and the status is MISSING!!!!! Eeek! I don't know why a silly missing book just gave me the heebie jeebies but it did!
It was probably sold! LOL I would not doubt it one bit as many people do that.
Thinking oh the library can afford to replace it yah right.
but that is creepy I looked in a few libraries and nothing I will have to look in our stuff this spring and look for the book! As we sometimes fall upon a ton of books we give away for free by the way and you all are welcome to come see! :)
Hint hint! We are setting up some tents this year with walls and start up our resale shop again with all sorts of other peoples stuff! And some free stuff too!
But if I come across it you never know some people throw away the darnedest things!
I will let you all know and we will share it :) Hoping none of the pages are ripped out!
