The Ovilus

If you are interested in contact with the other side why not just ask and save your checkbook. I am a firm believer through experience that communicating is fairly simple and straightforward. If you want some guidance please feel free to ask. I just find it incredible (this is not a criticism) that people are looking at all kinds of gadgets.

I responded to this post this morning under the sticky "what hapens when you die". In short...Maine Ghost Hunters Society respects both the meataphysical and scientific. I am well versed in communicating with spirits without any equipment at all and actually prefer it that way. However, I am not so arrogant to believe that i am 100% right all the time. Therefore, I respect the use of technology created from the study of quantum physics. The more evidence you have to prove what you have physically experienced while you're out in the field, the better. When you're out there trying to gather as much information as you can so you can attempt to help the homeowners and the spirits (if needed), its important to be as acurate as possible.

In the interest of helping the homeowners we service, we need a clear way for them to hear what is going on in their home. We can ask the spirits to talk all we want and give the homeowners the information our Mediums receive, but if there is just a little skeptic in someone they are more apt to believe what we tell them if they can see it or hear it in real time; like a recorded spirit's answer to our questions or a good picture. Also, some spirits don't have the strength to come through audibly for "all" to hear (regardless of what you believe) so the "ghost box" and the Ovilus give them kind of a channel and a boost to help them communicate with us as well as giving those of us who can't hear them the advantage of doing so and responding to their answers with the appropriate line of questions. Not everyone can talk to spirit, and not everyone wants to be able to either, so these gadgets give us the opportunity to do it while in the field and record what does come through for evidence.
I think it is wonderful that you can communicate with spirit and that you use this gift in your own souls journey, but just because you hear and see what you do doesn't make it the end all, positively only truth about the afterlife. It is quite possible that there are different frequencies of the afterlife, or different realms of the afterlife and you only pick up on one or two of them while other Mediums pick up on the same or others. To be able to say that "this is what I know, and this is the only truth" is really quite an ignorant thing to say.
We are a paranormal investigative group not "Psychics are us" and if we need to open our checkbooks to buy tools to help us in our quest to service the frightened and desperate homeowners who contact us, to help them reach a level of understanding and acceptance of their situation then so be it!

I have to agree with Lisa on this one and lightwarrior that would be great if people out there would just open their minds and listen to what was caught by personal experiences. The unfortunate part is that you have skeptics and non believers everywhere and until they SEE it and HEAR it and I guess smell and touch it! lol they are not going to believe in it at all.
I know pathetic but true.
It has to be a scientific approach for some. And most people when you are doing a public or private investigation you have to come up with proof hard evidence, and unfortunately you have to open your check book and shovel up some money. Now on this item, here. Is this like the K-2 meter, where the lights can blink when the spirit is present and make it blink? I know GH has been using this alot to discuss and have conversations with the spirits of late. Answer questions and such. I will look into it more but it looks similiar to that do you also catch EVP's on it as well than? It looks like it is multifunctional anyways. I will look into this more thanks for the link.

Well it all sounds promising except I think Barry from GHI is working to hard when he posted this one...

I guess he used it which is fine. and was impressed with it as many are. But unless he went into a major time warp how did he get into 2009 when we are still in 2008?? lol :) Just had to notice and mention that one!
But it sounds like a great addition to the team though I think it would be worth the money too!

Wouldn't it be nice though to not so much go into the future, but the past especially with some of the investigations you had, to plop yourselves in the time of the place that you are investigating before they all died, but.. the trick is you are not seen and you plop when the scene is happening that you are investigating! you cannot interfere in anyway whatsoever.. that would be cool! Answer so many questions you may have today for the areas you cover and what you experience now! I don't know I think it would be cool! Like for instance on Devils Foot, what was there before it was a cemetary plop yourself there before it became a cemetary and see what was there before hand! Hmmm interesting thoughts! OR that one peice of land that is in Hermon on Bog Road the witch girl...what did the house look like and the girl and see the events that took place of her death and all and the house leaving and all.. so many different areas in question and no answers you know??

No way you can go back in time though that I know of.. let alone a time warp to the future, unless there is a basement someplace with a nutty professor somewhere in Maine working secretly on it now! :)

I love the fact that the ovilus sounds like the computer from war games. That entire episode of Paranormal State I kept expecting it to as "Would you like to play a game?"

But it's still pretty neat, and the fact that it seems to work more like an empath, in the fact that in dealing with a demon, it didn't want to communicate the purpose it had in the house, but still couldn't hide it. That to me seems to be it's most powerful use.

Aww that is what they used in Paranormal State?? interesting. I did not know the name of it really.. thanks for the information though.
It sounds to me like something out of Star Trek a weapon the Klingons would have lol :) But all the same it is interesting peice of equipment and good invention! Again I think it would be a great investment for any group that does this to get..

Have you had this ability your entire life? Have you ever done anything with it? I mean, use it to help spirits move forward, or assist home-owners with understanding activity in their homes, etc. Are you able to remotely connect with spirits - from your home to other locations? If you can do this, is there anything you need to assist you, such as a photo, address? I seem to be able to pick up information if I can hear EVPs later, even if I was not actually at the location.
I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks,

I knew there was spirit activity going on in my own home because the spirits were talking to me as well as doing things- a team of investigators came with lots of fancy equipment, and captured tons of EVPs , had their own very scary experiences, and yet even after all the evidence was played for other people, (skeptics) in my house-they still could not believe this was really happening.

I call this the "escape-hatch" and in my opinion, it is a hugely important coping skill.

Equipment helps to validate psychic claims, but also helps clients come to terms with paranormal - "outside the normal" experiences.
Obviously, there are those that will never believe-no matter how much evidence and psychic information available today. It is not our job to make believers out of non-believers but I do think we should provide as much information with all the technological/psychic means we have at our disposal. After that-its up to the homeowner.

From what I have read some prefer the ovilus, while others swear by the Puck. I have never seen the puck in action so I am not sure if it has the same capabilities as the Ovilus or not. But the puck will connect right to your computer and give you temp and humidity readings etc. I like the Radio Shack Hack as a cheaper alternative with the capability of giving the same results, although it takes some getting used to. We had some interesting results last Friday with it. Tyler and Julie seemed rather impressed with it.. they were gathered around it like moths at a campfire....lol. With any of these items there are always skeptics, people are going to say that it is just luck of the draw that a certain word comes out at a certain time, but when those words coincide with what you are asking at the time, it is pretty incrdible...........Lisa B.
