That is a great story. The "psychic hours" are between midnight and dawn. Most paranormal activity will be observed during these times. It is also quite common for the 3a.m. wake up by ghosts. Possibly because it is halfway between midnight and dawn, and that would be the strongest of the psychic hours. It is possible that this is a residual haunting of a bride to be, that would be my first guess. Perhaps when the writer got scared her mind allowed her to no longer see it, but that it is still there going through the paces. I dont know why the ghost would have changed its appearance to become spooky looking. Perhaps that is what the writer envisioned to rationalize not wanting to see it anymore. Or perhaps that was the ghosts face of death. No one could say for sure, but I would like to see the research about any deaths in the area that fit the description of this bride.......Lisa B.

well that is what got me, really. they are watching the bride from inside the house, it's dark, the bride is in the driveway...i would think it would have been kinda hard to see her eyes. i'm not saying the story isn't true, i'm just wondering if it's 100% accurate.
also if i had seen a bride standing in my driveway i would not have went to bed until she was gone. who would? i would have tried to figure out who it was right then and there. it would have creeped me out too much to just go to bed with her still standing out there.

My first impulse is to say that I would go outside to investigate, but I am not sure that that would be so close to the truth.....lol!!!!!!!!!!! I am however sure that there would be very little or no sleep in my house either.........lol.........Lisa B.

I am not sure that I would go to bed. And unless you have binoculars, how in the world are you seeing EYES! I mean come on a second story window? And at the end of the driveway? She is not under the window from the description, it is nightfall, dark and you are seeing EYES?
I guess she died there. in that area. OR she went there maybe to that house for help before dying OR that house called the ambulances to help her when the accident occured..Lisa, somehow I could see you investigating it, but not alone .. you are a smart lady..I don't see you running in your robe outside with EVPs and camera in hand! lol :) on your own.
NOW on another note.. eyes turning souless and black, isn't that signs of Evil? That is what I have always heard. Could it be an evil entity? coming back in this woman's form?

Now to Poland Maine :) Route 26 let me find out more for you! :) and see if I can find out anything more on it.. pictures, movies any information or history on it :) again it may be a deeply well hidden maine secret.. I hope no one picks the woman up.. i hate to see it like that car crash incident in England that was filmed! that I posted! And they get into an accident because of a ghost! Maybe best bet.. drive Poland Route26 and see if you bump into her! :) you never know!

Well i found one case: not very exciting to say the least but it is something more on this :)

THERE WERE ABOUT 11 INCIDENTCES I HAD READ ABOUT IN THE NEWSPAPER ABOUT A LADY,DRESSED IN A LONG WHITE GOWN WHO WOULD BE HITCHHIKING ALONGSIDE THE ROAD. PEOPLE WOULD PICK HER UP BUT COME TO REALIZE THAT ABOUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD THE LADY HAD DISSAPEARED! SPONTANIOUS AND CURIOUS, MY FRIEND AND I DECIDED TO CHECK IT OUT.ON OUR WAY DOWN THE ROAD WE FOUND NOTHING, BUT ON OUR WAY BACK WE SAW HER! THERE SHE WAS , JUST AS SHE WAS DESCRIBED, JUST STANDING AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.TOTALLY SPOOKED OUT OF OUR MINDS ALL WE COULD DO WAS DRIVE AS FAST AS WE COULD OUT OF THERE!MY FAMILY STILL DOESN'T BELIEVE ME, BUT I KNOW WHAT I SAW AND IT WAS THE GHOST OF RT.26

The ghost wears a white billowy dress, pale skin, light red lipstick with dark hair. She will only appear to people that she has a message for. She gets in your car, and makes a prediction, a scary one. Then, at the George Knight Murder sight, she gets out. But you don't have to open your door or slow down. Comment: The George Knight Murder Sight is where the Independence Machine Shop in Poland ME is. If you don't know where that is it is East of Tripp Lake. It is behind there. The George Knight Murder Sight is the only murder to ever happen in Poland history. I haven't yet found out why this lady haunts route 26 and not route 11 where the murder has happened. As far as my studies have told me, it's probably the daughter of Mrs. Knight who was murdered by her awful husband. Want a brief summary of what happened? Sure you do or you wouldn't still be reading this. The murder happened early October 1856. Anna Pulter heard a loud shriek coming from Mrs. Knights room. She got up to investigate to find a pillow pressed to Mrs. Knights face which was covered in bloody finger prints, she discovered her head was slightly apart from her body and was laying in a pool of blood. The discovered a knife covered in blood in a field. When Mr. Knight didn't seem to care about his wife's death but tried to convince the cops that he was on Black Cat Mountain that night. The sheriff asked to see Knights right arm. When he revealed his under shirt they foun dried clotted blood. He was sent to the Portland jail and pronounced guilty. RESEARCHER DR. LEAFPOOL.

It is not always easy i guess i am able to dig i don't know lol :) I just googled lol :) But it sounds interesting but it seems you only see her by chance.. spooky though to have her in the car then she tells you something that supposedly comes true and then vanishes yipes!
And she only rides with you if she has something important to tell you! Yah okay..don't know could be a Maine Fable I don't know. But I don't know that I would pull over and pick her up anyways, not much to picking up hitchers on the road :)

I have lived in Poland all my life and have heard of the woman forever I have never seen her although i live on route 11 and one night my ex-girlfriend and I swear we saw a woman by wolf cove inn.. the story of the murder is true.. i found a link to an article from 10/18/1856 the link is below and click on full article...http://query.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=9E05EEDE1039E134BC4A51DFB667838D649FDE its an awesome article.. my mom went through the deed and found in 1857 the george knight farm was sold to a man named moses.. does anyone know exactly where the house is/was? Becaue we own a piece of his land and there is a trail behind my house which i think involved him somehow... the trail has lots of strange vibe going on in it.

as for the article i just googled george knight murder..lol.. and the trail i have felt that i was being followed on the trail but only untill i end up back on my property.. there also was a little kid killed by a falling tree on the same trail in the other direction.. on the trail there is an old well that it really creepy and across from that there is a bunch of stones that look like an old meeting place and..lots of white paint buckets and i found a sythe down there to.. there is a wierd vibe coming from the 2 remaining livable farmhouses down there as well.. if in the area it could be worth taking a walk down the trail seems like it could be a good one

I remember something somewhere that showed me how to get there or told how to get there.. let me go search it out :)
Isn't that the house though that is gone? I don't know maybe mixing it up with something else. so many of these I have looked up lol :)

yeah i have always been kinda freaked out by the well the only pic i had taken actually was of the well.

Buick if i were you I would take more pictures around the well, and not just inside the well, if you feel you can handle the area long enough, bring some freinds with you though, if you feel really uncomfortable, take some pictures of the trail and area..as Lisa suggested.. and yes I am looking and not coming up with any hope yet. I think it is going to be one of those best kept secrets, but I am going to dig into a little further, I even was able to get into the Androscoggin County records on line unfortunately their Deeds only go back to 1965 and up.. the man Moses that you mentioned that bought that land no longer owns it.. if you can get an address of that land, or find out who bought the land from Moses, you may have more answers. OR if over the years the state took it over, which is always a possibility if there were no loved ones to will it to later or never got sold later.
I hope that well is safely encased somehow that looks pretty dangerous and hopefully no one falls into it! ;)

Okay after some MAJOR searching.. i found it, it is not INDEPENDENCE but INDEPENDENT! so look up Independent Machine shop Poland, Maine.. 318 Bakerstown Rd, Poland, ME - (207) 998-2218‎

Okay so..Tripp Lake Road and This Independent Machine Shop road are 2 minutes away from each other.. somewhere in there it is BEHIND one of them or in between..

When I look at a sattelite picture I don't see any home at all, let alone any farm anymore. Not near or behind the area at all. But the area has to be right, it is between Route 11 and Route 26 ...
i wish everyone luck that ventures out there :)
Maybe even the Machine shop would know the whereabouts to this place hopefully.

Remember folks before you go venturing on the property, get permission if it is privately owned, don't need to hear you are in trouble with the laws of the land for going on someone else's property without permission and don't make other investigators look bad, because you cannot be professional to do this simple task of permission asking :) thanks :)

there is atleast a few houses in there lol one of them is where i live. so it is between my nieghbors and trip lake rd., that sounds like it could be my land lol as for the well it is not surrounded by anything that is one of the reasons its kinda freaky what you see is how it is out in the woods.. i went to the poland library and found in a book from 1890 that george knight was still in the thomaston prison for the murder it also states he was slowly poisoning her.. I HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMEND AGAINST TALKING TO THE GUY WHO OWNS THE MACHINE SHOP HE IS NOT A NICE MAN... IF HE KNEW ABOUT THIS HE WOULD PROBABLY CHARGE TO SEE IT OR SOMETHING.. there is 2 foundations out in the woods on the path between his woods and mine i think the one behind his place is probably the one
