Oh yah! Frank's Box!
I don't know how accurate it truly is but saw it on Paranormal State, was used in this bathroom of all places and it is like a radio I guess they put it on a snowy channel and you ask questions and you get the EVP's right then and there.. I guess the difference is somehow you don't get the radio stations, you pick up the actual EVP's they got some demon I think it was, pretty wild!
I think more investigators would really learn more from it.. it seemed to come off really clear what was coming across.. they got a person and then that faded and a demon came on. Really interesting things..
And then of course there are other simple things.. like some use movement detectors, some people use baby powder or salt to see if it has been moved in areas that are active.. they place it down to see if it will be disturbed by a moving spirit..
Then there are of course your EMF detectors and EVP thingies, and then the night vision stuff and the optic stuff, that is all I know of that may be new...is the Frank's Box it was new to me anyways...

I WANT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had actually found the blueprints for Franks Box, but dont know anyone smart enough to put it together. Now that it has been on TV you wont be able to find one cheap.........Lisa B.

Well Ebay has one! What did I say! lol and I guess someone is making them out there..the one that is 45.00 has a 100% rating though.. the 38.99 one he has a 95% rating may want to check out why..

Yes ghost hunters store looks awesome! Just remember before you order anything from any website, to look for a phone number AND then call it and make sure they are STILL there and the site is still ALIVE and not a dead non working site..I find if I do that, I know that they are not a scam or anything. Especially if I get a recorded message all the time I call and no call back and/or disconnected numbers or no phone number at all on the site.. with EBAY I just look at the comments and all and see what it is on there.

Yes having the Ghost Box there may prove very very inciteful (sp)
Never know what you may get there though you may get dozens of spirits all at once trying to speak to you! But worth a try. I hope you take it with you next time you go though. Would be interesting to hear what you get. And the conversations you can hold too!

Wrap the batteries in lead foil.Another helpful hint,Pull the meter or trip the main before sweeping a building with a EMF meter.
Digital thermometers only read surface temp, Not air temp.I use a darkroom thermometer from the 60's
Hot and cold water pipes behind walls or under floors heat or cool the walls and floors,high load wiring with a load on it can do the same thing.

I guess Ii'll jump right in... I should have mentioned in my profile that I can be rather opinionated. :-)
I actually have a bit of an issue with "white noise" or other noise generating equipment... I don't readily subscribe to the theory that spookies can "bend" white noise to "speak"... I think it simply provides more interference that opens up the possibility of "audio matrixing".
The movie "White Noise" was good and creepy though. :-)

Opinions are not a problem on here, we are open to them.. so you are saying than that white noise can be more of an interference coming through then a spirit? I am just trying to understand more is all. I am not an investigator here I am more of a researcher for the group.. and one who is interested in the paranormal and the past history of why, how come and how did it all happen to be their deaths.. that is my side of it.. I don't go investigating so all this new equipment jargon hence bare with me is a little over my head lol 
So when you say Audio Matrixing it is more of an interference then a spirit than??
Just wanting to make sure.never saw movie white noise will have to look into it..

When I say "audio matrixing", I don't know if that's a "real" term or not, but it's the closest way I can describe "hearing" things that aren't really there.
Think about every time you hear Jason or Grant say "matrixing"... they are referring to interpreting a face or a body or a person or something in a picture.
I use the term "audio matrixing" to describe a similar phenomenon with EVPs. Twenty people can listen to an EVP and write down 20 different things that they heard. I've personally heard a cat say "I'm the devil" (not literally, but that's what it sounded like, until I heard it yowling 20 seconds later), and an old, creaky house call for help.. literally, it sounded like it said "helllllllllllppppppp"... lol I was able to re-create that exact noise though.
The fact that humans can extropolate "voices" and "words" out of sounds makes me a little nervous about introducing yet *more* sounds into an environment... especially something that comes complete with it's own little amplifier.. unless the unit is completely shielded, there is always the chance of picking up stray RF signals (like a local radio station, or the neighbor's cordless phone) and piping those out into the air.
Yes, that happens. I could have sworn a house I lived in a few years back was haunted by a myraid of classical music composers, until I relized my guitar amp was picking up the classical music station.
I hope that clears it up a little bit for ya. :-)

Now I understand what you are saying though. I have heard the term that White Noise can pick up the Radio Waves.. I have heard of that. and understand now what you mean by the audio matrixing. I don't sometimes I hear those EVP's and think what were they saying?? Sometimes I can never make them out ..just my luck I guess... but yah I do understand it more.. just like baby monitors, when I was a nanny it would pick up the noises from two houses down and they would too, drove me nutz used to think the kids were making the noises and go in the room they were out..the monitor was! LOL

It's not the white noise itself that picks up radio waves, but the white noise generator (like the "Frank's Box" or "Ghost Box" mentioned above).
I actually have a whole series of blogs that I want to start writing for the NMGH MySpace page, but it's probably going to behoove me to wait a little bit on that.. I don't want to ruffle too many feathers in the paranormal research community.. LOL
